Life has a way of throwing some funny curves your way. One day you are a daughter, a sister, and a niece who is ambling along focused on your education and you meet a guy, fall in love and before you know it you are engaged to be married. It sounds so simple. Fall in love, pick a wedding date, invite a few family and friends and get married all while you finish your undergraduate program, graduate and move to another state far away from your family to start your graduate program.
This is the chapter in Megan’s life when she started her journey with Matt and her parents and Matt’s parents when they began planning a wedding day to be cherished and remembered forever. There are soooo many specialists to meet – bakers, caterer’s, florist’s, photographer’s, reception venue options, church rules and regulations, a wedding dress to select, bridesmaid dresses and groomsmen tux’s to determine. It can all seem so overwhelming especially when you have to move to Texas to start working on your graduate program and to work.
Planning a successful, stress-free wedding is all about selecting the right people for your ” wedding team”. These experts will be people you learn to trust, establish a friendship with and rely on answering all of your questions as quickly and efficiently as possible.
Megan’s mother Marla and I had so many wonderful moments on the phone going over every detail so we both felt comfortable that Megan and Matt’s day would be beautiful, unique and sacred.
Megan carried a bouquet of white and pink ’David Austin’ roses (so lovely and fragrant!), green hypericum berries, lavender colored stock, and lavender colored dendrobium orchids all provided by my favorite floral wholesale company, Mayesh Wholesale Flowers.
Her bridesmaids carried a fresh bouquet of yellow cremon chyrsanthemums, lavender alstromeria, and green hypericum berries. These fresh flowers looked fabulous against their rose wine colored cocktail style dress.
The groomsmen wore a boutonniere of a white rose bloom with a hint of lavender stock blooms.
Marla, Mother of the bride, discovered she had a gift for selecting unique, colorful, low bowls that were used at the reception on each guest table with floating candles and yellow cremon chrysanthemums. We both almost had a heart attack when two weeks before the wedding Marla realized that the reception site: Lexington Municipal Complex Conference Center was smack dab in the middle of the 2nd annual Wine Walk that would be held on the wedding day at the same time of the reception. Marla made a few phone calls, made an action plan and all was well.
*Note to future brides: when looking at a specific venue for your reception check the city calendar for annual festivities that may affect parking or travel to and from the venue for you and your guests.
